People and Emotions

'People and Emotions' is a primary student personal development resource for teachers. It helps students understand how their thinking, feelings and behaviour are interconnected. Are you familiar with expressions like:

It's not fair!’
‘I can't stand it!’
‘This always happens to me!’
‘Why should I!’
‘You must do what I want!’
‘He/she made me do it!’

This kind of self-talk/thinking is counter productive. It stops us from achieving our goals (to be happy and successful).

be Happy
and
Successful.

The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.

There are 14 picture scenarios to analyse in terms of the implications of 'mindset' for the individuals in the pictures. What thinking is helpful (rational) and which is unhelpful (irrational). What evidence is there to challenge unhelpful thinking? How can I feel and act at my optimum best so I can still remain OK in situations that may be challenging.
